Warriors are on a roll early

Indians hope to keep it respectable

by Bret Sims

Winton Woods was Hack Sports preseason #1 for smaller schools in Cincinnati and after two games they haven’t disappointed.

The Warriors lost their first game to Moeller in a hard fought 45 to 34 loss but showed plenty of moxy in the process.

In their last outing the Warriors rushed for a whopping 343 yards on 37 attempts as they crushed Withrow 67 – 7.

Not to be outdone was Avery Cunningham, Winton’s senior safety who returned a fumble 40 yards and an interception 33 yards, both for touchdowns.

Senior QB Dominique Brown along with senior RB Jeremiah Goins and senior WR Juan Glover create an almost unstoppable trifecta on offense. These three players are impressive athletes that can score almost at will.

Fairfield comes into the game with a record of 1-1, having beaten Piqua 14-7 in their last outing. Both games have been low scoring affairs for the Indians and if they look to upset the Warriors they will have to rely on their defense to lead the way.

Junior Marquise Vann leads the team in tackles (15) and will have his hands full with the crop of talent that he will be facing on the offensive side of the ball for the Warriors. Vann along with teammate Tyler Snell and Robert Mincey need to try and control the line of scrimmage.

Fairfield won’t be able to stop the Warriors but they can hope to contain them as best they can.

On paper this looks like a possible blow out with the Warriors running all over the Indians but as anyone who watches high school football, what is on paper doesn’t mean squat and that is why they play the game.
