For the third straight year St. Henry came away
with the Kentucky Class A state track and field title, rolling to a
52-point win over runner-up Danville.
The Crusaders won a total of six titles including
the 3,200-meter relay and individuals including Caitlyn Schilling (100
hurdles), Bri Hasbrouck (400 meters), Karen Lageman (3,200 run), Kacie
Gamm (300 hurdles) and Jenna Siemer (1,600).
In the Class A boys’
meet, Bishop Brossart finished third
with Chad Schmidt (1,600), Troy Cooper (shot put) and the 3,200-meter
relay team winning titles.
Highlands finished
second in girls’ Class AA followed by Lloyd. The Bluebirds won the
3,200-meter relay while Lloyd senior Sondra Nieporte won titles in the
1,600 and 3,200-meter runs and Donnell Nocero (high jump) for the
Juggernauts.
Highlands also claimed
second place in the boys’ Class AA meet led by Justin Guilkey (300
hurdles) and winning 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams.
Scott senior Kortni
Dukes won titles in the girls’ Class AAA meet in the 1,600 and
3,200-meter runs. Notre Dame won the 1,600-meter relay as the Pandas
finished in an area-best seventh place.
Covington Catholic
finished in 13th place in boys’ Class AAA. Mike Hudson had
top five finishes in the discus and shot put. |
