Lakota West senior pitcher Lindsay Bodeker pitched a 1-hit shutout, fanning 14 batters along the way to help lead the No. 1-ranked Firebirds to a 3-0 win over No. 2 Fairfield in a Greater Miami Conference fast-pitch softball game on Tuesday at Lakota West.

The Firebirds (10-1, 7-0 GMC) scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBI single by Rachel Shepherd and added two more in the sixth inning keyed by an RBI triple by Courtney Schott, who went 3-for-3 at the plate.  Lakota West collected eight hits on the day.

Bodeker, a University of Akron recruit, upped her record to 10-1.  She now has 133 strikeouts and a perfect 0.00 ERA in 77 innings pitched.

Fairfield’s (10-3, 6-3) lone hit of the game came on a bunt single by Rebecca Brunner in the sixth inning.

Fairfield ace Mindy Breitholle (7-2) was strong through the first five innings and recorded 11 strikeouts on the day before giving up the decisive three runs in the final two innings.
