North College Hill in Division III and Lockland in
Division IV both advanced to the state semifinals of their respective
divisions by winning regional championships over the weekend.
The Trojans (24-1), ranked No. 1 in Ohio and third
nationally by USA Today, continued its dominating march toward a second
straight state title with a 97-52 demolition of Versailles on Saturday
at Wright State University. NCH bolted to a 26-7 first quarter lead and
were never threatened in the game. Bill Walker scored a game-high 26
points and O.J. Mayo added 25. No team has come closer than 27 points
of the Trojans in their five tournament games and the Trojans average
winning margin has been 48 points.
North College Hill plays Archbold in one state
semifinal game on Thursday, March 23 at 5:15 p.m. at Value City Arena in
Columbus.
Lockland (23-3) defeated Houston 55-47 at Millet
Hall at Miami University to advance to state. The Panthers got a
double-double performance from Dajuan Harris (13 points, 11 rebounds)
with Sheldon Johnson (11) and Thomas Smith (10) Mack Ogletree (10) all
scoring in double figures.
The Panthers, ranked 10th in the state,
will play No. 5 South Webster on Thursday, March 23 at 10:45 a.m. at
Value City Arena. |
