College Hill junior O.J. Mayo won his second straight Ohio Mr.
Basketball award on Wednesday as voted by the Associated Press.
Mayo averages 28.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and over
five assists a game for the Trojans, who are in the Ohio Division III
semifinals and will play Archbold today at 5:15 p.m. NCH (24-1) is
going for their second straight Division III state title.
Mayo is generally regarded as the top junior in the
country by most scouting services and has helped lead NCH, ranked third
in the country by USA Today, to a record of 72-3 since joining the
program as a freshman.
Current NBA star LeBron James won the award three
straight years from 2001-03 while playing for Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary
– still the Ohio record for one player. |
