Lakota West and Elder both dropped regional championship games on Saturday night eliminating Cincinnati schools from the boys' Division I state tournament.

The Firebirds (23-3) lost 71-68 in overtime to Trotwood-Madison in a regional final at Cintas Center while Elder (22-3) fell 52-49 to Lancaster at Fairgrounds Coliseum in Columbus, Ohio.

Lakota West, ranked No. 8 in the state, led 32-26 at halftime but unranked Trotwood gradually chipped away at the lead in the second half before forcing overtime.

The Rams' Patric Hill drilled a 3-pointer with 23 seconds left in overtime to give Trotwood a 69-68 lead and British Alexander iced the game with two free throws in the final seconds. Lakota West could have forced a second overtime after Todd Mayberry was fouled on a 3-point attempt but Mayberry missed his first free throw. Senior Vince Cook led the Firebirds with a game-high 28 points.

Elder, ranked seventh in the state, hung with No. 3 Lancaster for most of the game before coming up short.  The Panthers held a 27-26 lead at halftime but the Golden Gaels grabbed the lead early in the fourth quarter and led the rest of the way.  Kyle Rudolph led Elder with 15 points.
