North College Hill in Division III and Lockland in
Division IV both play in state semifinal games tomorrow at Value City
Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
The Panthers (23-3) take on South Webster (24-2) at
10:45 a.m. The Trojans (24-1) play Archbold (21-4) at 2 p.m.
Championship games for both divisions are scheduled for Saturday, March
25 at the same times.
Lockland, ranked 10th in the state, is
making its first state appearance since 1937 and is a balanced team led
by four double figure scorers in Dajuan Harris (19.6), Thomas Smith
(17.1), Antoine Wilhite (16.6) and Mack Ogletree (10.8). South Webster,
ranked fifth in the state, is led in scoring by Nick Aldridge (22.7).
South Webster averages 73.4 points a game compared to 76.0 for Lockland
indicating a high-scoring game could evolve.
North College Hill comes into the game ranked No. 1
in Ohio and No. 3 in the country by USA Today. Juniors O.J. Mayo (28.8
ppg.) and Bill Walker (22.4) are two of the highest rated players in
their class in the country by most recruiting firms. The Trojans, who
average 86.0 points a game, have won their five tournament games by an
average of 46 points. Their closet game was a 27-point win over Purcell
Marian in sectional play. Unranked Archbold advanced to the state
semifinals last year before losing to Ironton. The Blue Streaks are led
by sophomore Gene Goering (18.7 ppg.). |
