Elder is
the clear-cut No. 1 team in Ohio Division I baseball as voted by the
Associated Press state poll released yesterday.
The Panthers (13-0) received 13 of the 17 first
place votes cast and totaled 148 points, easily out-pointing No. 2
Dublin Scioto by 36 points. Elder is the only local team ranked in the
top 10.
Elder has bolted to the top spot playing a tough
schedule that includes wins over five teams ranked in the top 10 in the
local Cincinnati coaches’ poll.
The only other local school ranked in the top 10 of
the first AP poll is Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. The Eagles
(7-0) received two first place votes and are ranked seventh in Division
III.
