If there is one common theme among the weekly baseball statistics in Northern Kentucky it is that there is one name that keeps popping up at the top of almost every hitting category: Chris Curley.

Curley, a senior at Beechwood, is turning in one of the better all-around season performances in recent memory.  Through April Curley was leading the area in batting average (.667), home runs (7), extra-base hits (15), RBI (28) and runs (28).  If that wasn’t enough, he was 4-0 on the mound with an ERA of 1.62 and was third in the area in strikeouts (35) in helping lead the Tigers to a No. 1 ranking.

Beechwood (22-3) plays in the state All "A" Classic this weekend at Applebee's Park in Lexington, Ky.

Other players turning in big seasons include Boone County's Cory Faris.  The sophomore catcher is batting .493 with 22 RBIs and 30 runs scored with 26 stolen bases.  Andrew Blazejewski of Covington Catholic is batting .477 with 26 RBIs.  Ludlow's Elijah Mays is hitting .500 with 22 RBIs.  All three rank in the top five of at least three statistical categories.
